My son studied piano with Ellen for two years, starting at age five. When she moved away from Miami and the lessons had to end, all our family felt a great loss. We could not have wished for a better teacher, especially for a young child. Ellen is not only passionate about music, but is also deeply knowledgeable. Her manner is gentle yet she sets a high standard and motivates her students to grow. Her student recitals were very moving; the spirit of excitement and pride in achievement is palpable. My son continues to play the piano and we will always be grateful to Ellen for giving him a solid foundation in music and inspiring the love for it. – Aina W., parent
From proper playing technique to understanding all facets of music theory, Ellen taught my two boys the finer points of music. But much more than just playing the piano, Ellen truly cared about my sons and the aspects of music they each enjoyed. My boys loved every year of piano with Ellen because she expected excellence with such an encouraging attitude that my boys wanted a higher standard of excellence for themselves and were willing to work hard for it under Ellen’s guidance. Both boys placed in multiple piano competitions while under Ellen’s tutelage, and we appreciated her investment in our boys and her love for them and music! – Karen T., parent
Our daughter took weekly lessons from Ellen for several years, and she didn’t just learn how to play the classical musical notes well, but she learned the details of hand placement and musical interpretation. The progress she continually made amazed us, and to listen to all of Ellen’s students during each annual recital was a testament to what an awesome teacher we were privileged to have. Our daughter would probably still be taking lessons had Ellen’s family not moved out of state. We will forever be grateful for those years of lessons and friendship! – Kim W., parent
